Veolog promotes the integration of disabled people within its teams
In collaboration with the recruitment agency Synergie, Veolog recently organised its very first "Handi-matinee", an operation designed to promote the recruitment of people with disabilities. Here is a review of this morning, which was very enriching for the candidates who attended as well as for Veolog and its teams.
Employment of disabled people in France
For more than 20 years now, the association LADAPT, which helps disabled people in their daily lives, has been organising the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities. This year, this new edition will take place from 19 to 25 November 2018.
Through various awareness-raising activities, this week helps to change people's attitudes towards disability and employment. In France, 65% of people with disabilities do not have a job, while the logistics sector, which is little known to the general public, has difficulty recruiting. However, with a few adjustments, it is quite possible to integrate people with disabilities into the world of logistics.
Veolog's wish? To help these people discover the logistics professions while showing them that great career opportunities are possible. This is why our entity chose to act and recently organised a "Handi-matinal" at one of its warehouses in the Marne region, in collaboration with the Synergie recruitment agency.
The "Handi-matinale" at Veolog
At Veolog's initiative, Synergie invited about twenty candidates who were curious to discover the world of logistics. A presentation of Veolog and the different jobs in the warehouses was then given by the logistics site manager. A real moment of exchange and sharing during which the candidates invited by Synergie could ask their questions to the Veolog members present!
Following this presentation, interested candidates were invited to attend individual interviews on site. This was a great opportunity for each of them to show their skills and motivation! Our teams were thus able to discover candidates with interesting potential, who could correspond to various positions on our site: C3 forklift operator, C5 forklift operator or even line work positions in the co-packing cell. Depending on the profile recruited and the disability of each person, suitable solutions will be proposed to adapt the workplace.
After thisfirst successful handi-matinee, Veolog does not intend to stop there! Other interventions will take place on all our sites from 2019 onwards, and new collaborations should thus see the light of day...
